Marty Czekala is a young self-starting broadcaster with experience in sports broadcasting as a reporter and play-by-play announcer.
On the Play-by-Play side, Marty is the voice of Brockport Golden Eagle Athletics on GoBrockport.com. He also has called football, basketball, hockey, baseball, lacrosse, and soccer for the team, including three NCAA Division III tournaments in football, men's basketball, and soccer, in addition to a SUNYAC tournament in men's basketball.
Recently, Marty was the voice of the 2022 NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer National Championship, his first National Championship of any kind. Later in the school year, Marty called the Division III Men's Basketball and Women's Lacrosse National Championships.
Marty is also the host of RSN Trackside on ROC Sports Network, which finished its third season in 2022, covering NASCAR and local racing events in Western and Central NY. Additionally, Marty is a columnist for Race Pro Weekly, writing exclusives and providing post-race recaps. This year, Marty got the opportunity to interview stars from Kyle Larson, Kimi Raikkonen, Kasey Kahne, and Kenny Wallace, all which were pivotal in increasing ratings.
Recently in racing, Marty has toured with the RUSH Late Model Series for 2022, providing social media content and filling in as an announcer when needed.
Marty is also a DJ and board operator for CJ Country Radio in Warsaw, NY, on the air Sundays on WCJW from 12-6pm and working the board for NASCAR radio broadcasts as the station is an affiliate for Motor Racing Network, Performance Racing Network, and the IMS Radio Network.
Formerly, Marty was the play-by-play voice with Flower City Union, a soccer team that plays in NISA, the third tier of professional soccer in New York. Marty was the Music DJ and backup play-by-play announcer with the Batavia Muckdogs, a short season Minor League Baseball team in the New York-Penn League from 2017-2019 during its extinction from MiLB, enhancing the fan experience and increasing attendance every year.
Marty graduated from The College at Brockport with a bachelors degree in Journalism & Broadcasting. At Brockport, he was involved with WBSU 89.1 The Point as a sports reporter. At The Point, he covered events from the Buffalo Sabres, Rochester Americans, to even the NASCAR Cup Series at Watkins Glen. He was also the voice of Golden Eagle Football in 2019 calling their NCAA Division III Tournament run as well as High School Hockey in 2018-19, the in-game host of High School Football in 2018, and the sports director in the Spring of 2019.
He also graduated from Genesee Community College with an associates degree in Communications & Media Arts. At GCC, he was with WGCC 90.7 The Music FM where he became a co-manager of the station. As a manager, Marty was in charge of all programming, hosting a weekly racing show and calling many games around Genesee Athletics, including Men's Soccer's run to its first championship in 2017.
Marty got his start into broadcasting as a teen with his own YouTube channel talking motorsports and calling fictional NASCAR races with the video game NASCAR Racing 2003 Season and iRacing, a hobby he still does in his down time.
In his down time, Marty is a huge sports fan, supporting the Buffalo Bills and Sabres, as well as the New York Yankees, but all his life he is a diehard motorsports guy, supporting NASCAR, IndyCar, Formula 1, and Dirt Modifieds, among others. Marty also likes to play iRacing on his PC rig and edit videos.
Marty has experience in numerous sports, with emphasis on Motorsports, Football, Basketball, Hockey, and Soccer.
He currently resides in the Western NY area and is pursuing his masters degree at St. Bonaventure.
